SEWA: Our Founder's Inspiring Journey
In a world filled with adversity, true change is sparked by a dream and a compassionate heart. These words perfectly reflect the journey of our founder, Md Azhar Rahmani, and the founding spirit of SEWA Trust.
Md Azhar Rahmani is a dedicated social worker, visionary entrepreneur, and the founder-president of SEWA Trust—our non-profit organization committed to uplifting underprivileged communities. His journey in the development sector began with a heartfelt desire to bring meaningful and lasting change in society, guided by the core values of compassion, equality, and selfless service (Sewa).
Born and brought up in a humble family, he personally experienced the challenges faced by marginalized communities—limited access to education, healthcare, and livelihood opportunities. These early experiences ignited a vision to build a platform that empowers the needy through sustainable and inclusive initiatives. With this vision, he laid the foundation of SEWA Trust, focusing on key areas like education, healthcare, women empowerment, livelihood support, and environmental sustainability.
His Philosophy
Md Azhar Rahmani lives by the principle: “Service to Humanity is Service to God.” For him, social work is not merely a profession—it is a way of life. He draws inspiration from legendary figures such as Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, and Mother Teresa, whose lives were devoted to the service of humanity.
Beyond SEWA Trust
Beyond his role in SEWA, our founder is also the Editor of Seemanchal Ki Awaz, a monthly magazine that amplifies grassroots voices. He is actively engaged in entrepreneurship, youth mentorship, and community leadership. Through collaborations with like-minded individuals, government agencies, and corporate partners, he continuously works to expand our collective impact.
